Small Laundry Room Makeover On A Budget

Small Laundry Room Makeover On A Budget – When we bought our house last fall, the laundry room was completely outdated with vinyl and tile floors and appliances.

Before moving in, we ripped up the floors throughout the house and installed beautiful vinyl floors except for the bathroom. This type of flooring is durable, waterproof and easy to install.

When creating this space, we had to decide if we wanted to store the necessary tools or use the space to create a full warehouse. Since we used the sink so much in our previous home, we added extra storage for cleaning supplies, bulk products/paper, and kids’ things and ideas.

We already had the furniture upstairs and downstairs in good condition, so we had to buy furniture.

Designing this space was more difficult than I thought it would be. I polled my Instagram community and asked them for insights and experiences about their personalities. As much as I wanted the laundry room to be “Pinterest-Perfect,” many found it unrealistic.

Opening a room inside a room meant for storage was a disastrous solution. So I got rid of one open drawer and baskets between the two upper cabinets.

My husband built a shed behind the washer and dryer + desk to hide the plumbing / bad connection.

I was finally able to slide the retro washer under the table so my husband and kids could get home from the dirty ball.

One thing we can never get enough of is storage. We decided to get a 90″ closet with two 60″ doors + an open top to save extra space. We removed our laundry room doors and this space is organized and beautiful. Made on a budget with lots of DIY projects.

This was an unexpected project. up. all of them. Have you ever had a home project like this? The laundry room is on the first floor. In addition to the washer and dryer, our laundry room had white wiring, two doors, and it wasn’t nice. But this problem was solved when we closed the doors. kind of. The doors were not very good and more than washing, they were a bigger problem because they were always in the way. I’ve been wanting to cut this area for about a year now, but I wasn’t sure how I wanted to go about it. So when the ill-fated doors hit the road for the 100th time, I decided not to reattach them and removed them altogether. It was free stuff. Now that the doors are gone, I needed to make this space look better and work better. The project changed my life immediately. a joke really. Well, it made doing laundry less tiring and less difficult. Our budget was small and it was a very large area, so time was also limited. But I always say challenges spur creativity.

The bathroom has a beautiful grass wallpaper that I installed last year. Those were my pre-blog days so I had no design style! But I also decorated the small bathroom sink in Valspar Seine paint. See the post here. So I thought using the same paint color in the laundry room would tie the two spaces together and work well with the green. It was a bonus that I didn’t even have to buy paint. Paint is an easy and inexpensive way to make a big impact on your home.

2) He made a board. I hated the white sink in this bathroom, but it was big and well done. Uploading it would cause me a lot of extra work. So I decided to make a wooden pot that fits into the existing frame, hiding the bad wiring but maintaining support and size. This was an easy project to do. I just measured the existing cab and extended the front end. My washing machine has a top load, so I cannot extend the front door and block the washing machine door. I bought one long piece of plywood and some small trim pieces from Home Depot – and cut two pieces to the length I wanted. I painted and stained both parts with pecan oil base paint and a coat of polyurethane. When it was dry, I joined the two pieces with wood glue and nails to make an L. Then I placed another wooden board on top of the metal. voila! You can see several wiring diagrams with important information, but they are 100% accurate.

The washer and dryer are both very old and I expect them to hit the bucket. As I said before, a commitment can only work if it is sustained over a long period of time. No, I never do that. So in the meantime, a little spray paint on the metal surface will do the trick. Since I had to paint every piece of furniture, I left it to protect the new walls.

4) He made a hanging pole. I needed a solution to cover a dirty laundry drawer. I tried a few things but nothing worked. I even sewed a little cloth to cover myself, but it was more visible. The size and location of the boxes is not only good. So after a little thought, I thought a hanging rod would not only distract from this eye problem, but would also be useful for drying clothes. It had to be so beautiful that I thought I could make the bar look like it was gold plated. I had also arranged a small bench in the bathroom so that they could work better. For this project, all I needed was a wooden stick, 2 cups and yarn. After painting the stick black and gold, I painted the stick gold, wrapped it around the end of the stick and hung it with a string from the wire under the tree. Now that’s a distraction, a goal, a hanging rod! I knew a yarn pot would be needed!

Oh, I love punctuation. And it’s easy to do. Check out my DIY post here. I think this gives the space a nice finishing touch.

I found a fun look and created an art print to complement this space. You can purchase this post as a downloadable file in my Etsy shop here. I added a fun gold pen to seal it in gold.

I took out a child’s knife, sharpened it and painted the wood and glued it. I loved how it turned out so I will definitely be making a few more!

I had some old baskets and shelves that weren’t being used and this was the perfect place for them. I love the different sizes and finishes. I added cute chalkboard stickers to wicker and wooden baskets, which are great for hiding cleaning supplies and paper towels. I put a rug under the baskets so they don’t scratch the wood.

I found free laundry detergent brands on BHG.com. Click here to download and register. I printed it out, lit it up, added a hole and a key chain. It’s beautiful – and important!

I needed laundry supplies to be readily available, so I used glass jars that were available for laundry and laundry. I bought colorful snacks at Target for all the goodies I found in clothes. And I had some old copper paper that was the perfect color and size for this space. I added housing pads under the driveway to prevent the “new” metal from coming out.

Not a large laundry room or charm. But every square inch is now organized and has a purpose—and it looks good, too. By removing the two doors, the bathroom/washroom looks bigger. And laundry became easier. The total budget for this project was less than $160. It includes all the above projects and laundry facilities. This makeup is completely accessible to everyone and can be done within a week or two.

Do you love or hate doing laundry? I don’t like it, but I really like it now that we have a “new” space. THANK YOU for being here to share this budget closet reveal with all of you – enjoy!
