Every house has a unique porch, from small to large. Then we have one of my favorite styles: the mini entryway! Small but powerful, this space might not land on the cover of a Southern style magazine, but it can still be the perfect place to entertain guests.

If possible, a small seating area is a great way to invite guests onto the porch. The idea is to make the balcony comfortable and not crowded, so size will be very important.
Spring Porch Decor
This vintage wooden folding chair is perfect for even a small porch. Of course, if you want to sit on the balcony, you will remove the geranium.
The use of double-sided rugs, one on top, has become very popular over the years. This is an opportunity to increase the curb appeal of your home with minimal effort.
Laura from Inspiration For Moms shows us how to mix and match rugs to create the perfect combination for your front door. She has many examples!
You can store rugs in this way throughout the year. Keeping it more neutral for winter, spring and summer, you can swap out the bottoms for a check print or something festive.
Stylish Ideas To Make The Most Of A Small Front Porch
Decorating plain Jane concrete is a fun way to update your home decor with a little color and a few hours of time.
Robert and Lauren from Blaser House stenciled their concrete porch and it turned out amazing! And they have tons of step-by-step images to show you how.
In my article about favorite plant combinations for container gardens, I described this farm earlier this year, using two clay pots, a basket of peaches and some geraniums. Very simple color view.
Want a more formal look than Crocs? You can use a classic black urn that can be used season after season and replaced with different types of leaves. Plants, topiaries and small pine trees look great in urns.
Warm And Welcoming Front Porch Ideas
If you have a front porch that doesn’t allow for a really small planter, don’t despair! You can add something like a planter to the wall or simply choose a hanging flower basket that doesn’t take up much space.
If a traditional flower box or urn is too big for your space, you can always create one.
This narrow planter from Anika’s everyday life complements her small porch perfectly! No wonder she did it for less than $10! Even if you’re not particularly dexterous, you should be able to create this app for beginners. Or if you’re too lazy to even think about picking up a hammer, you can always hire a local builder to do it for you.
Of course, you also have the option of buying a planter, but this narrow, square shape makes the most of unused space (and it doesn’t block access to doors).
Fall Porch Decor Ideas
To add more personality to a small space, you can add a simple porch chandelier like I used on my summer porch a few years ago! This adds more layers and takes up much less space.
By using outdoor candles with battery power and automatic timers, there is no need to remember to turn them on and off. The outer layer does not melt in the hot sun (aka plastic) and is waterproof.
This is my own front door! This is one of my favorite tiny house ideas because you can choose colors to match your style! I’m a fan of the vintage look, so I painted my door a gorgeous shade of green (without removing the door hinges!).
If you can fit a chair, rocking chair, or bench on your porch, a cozy throw or pillow will add an extra layer of appeal! I used the winter porch throw shown below, but you can also use lighter throws or porch pillows in the spring and summer.
Ways To Add Curb Appeal For The Best Front Yard On The Block
Cheat tip: If you don’t plan on using the throw as a real blanket to keep warm, you can also use a tablecloth, a large scarf, or two yards of fabric to get the same look.
Another great idea to decorate a small veranda is to decorate the front door with a wreath. The wreath can be as bright or delicate as you make it!
This quick and easy hydrangea wreath I showed you how to make last summer is a great example of a cheap and easy wreath.
Unlike my Greath watering can which is bright and wavy (it also glows at night).

This is one of the best ideas for a small hall because it adds personality in a relatively small space. If you’ve never heard of it before, a house post is a tall, vertical marker that sits against a driveway wall.
Porch canopies have been a trend for some time now. They work well for any space, but I especially like them for smaller spaces because they give you more visual impact. This is especially true if you’re making a front porch sign like the one featured on The House on Silverado (she has a great tutorial on how to make your own reversible front porch sign).
This brings me to my additional tip: light your hallway from two sides! That way, when you get bored with one design, you can swap it out for another. This is great for seasonal designs where you can have a Thanksgiving theme on one side and a Christmas design on the other.
That’s it – 10 great porch ideas that will work in any size room! Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that more is better, but learn to work with what you have.

Before And After Budget Friendly Front Porch Makeover
A few weeks ago I was pulling into our driveway, looking at the little porch and saying, “Oh. Holy winter hangover mode, Batman.”
January-March wasn’t the best for our house, and since we did some not-so-interesting foundation work in our yard last fall (old houses are fun, you know), our flower beds were destroyed. Along with a balcony.
So Robert ditched the trusty washing machine and I put out a regular garbage can to make our front door feel welcoming again, using planters and flowers from Walmart’s Better Homes & Gardens line.
Flower beds still need a lot of love and scruffy grass is worse for wear, but just 6 small front porch ideas on a budget make a big difference.

And of course, it can be done on a sunny Saturday as an attractive first impression to liven up a dreary winter porch (or help boost curb appeal when selling a home).
Choose just one large or slightly larger planter instead of several small ones to keep a small hall looking elegant without clutter.
I love the look of these traditional urns, which I never expected. Only $30.
I also found these plastic planter kits from the Better Homes & Gardens line to try DIY concrete planters with leftover spray cans.
