Small Front Porch Decorating Ideas On A Budget
I would like a picture of the small front porch of my first house. Very sad. The access to the front porch is nothing more than a concrete slab, with steps behind it covered in peeling paint.
Beautiful And Affordable Front Porch Decorating Ideas
There are no railings, no exterior lights, no space and absolutely no curb appeal. The most interesting thing about the entire front porch is the rusty mailbox that hangs on the side of the house. I’m afraid someone will fall off that thing.
I have the same question, “what can I put on a small porch?”. I really don’t know what to do or where to start.
*sigh* If only I had known what I know now. That little corner stands out from all the other houses in the neighborhood!
Even if you have limited space to work with, using these five decorating tips in your small entryway will give you an entryway you can proudly entertain and add curb appeal to your home.
How To Spruce Up Your Porch For Spring: 58 Ideas
I hope you’ve had the experience of approaching someone’s front door through a dark and dreary portal. Nobody likes the feeling of a dark, uninviting and creepy entrance!
The problem could be that your porch is closed, your house is painted a dark color, or trees or roofs are blocking the sun.
An easy solution is to paint the front door a brighter or lighter color than the exterior of the house. Just be sure to use a door color that matches and doesn’t conflict with the main body of the house.
The color of this front door by Sunnyside Design is the perfect color to brighten up this small entryway. The colors are brighter than the surrounding decor and blend in perfectly!

Also notice how adding a vase filled with bright white flowers adds instant sparkle.
This soft gray front door from Bunker Hill Cottage is a neutral color, but still draws attention to the front porch and brightens up a dark spot because of the porch ceiling.
Front porches can be pretty basic (and therefore boring) spaces, with nothing really making them interesting. This certainly applies to the front porch of my first house!

In My Wee Abode’s house, three pieces of wood tied together with rope not only look great tucked away in a corner, but also do double duty as a plant stand.
If you don’t have lumber lying around, a 4×4 or 6×6 post from a big box store, cut to three different sizes, should do the trick.

When it comes to adding charm, there’s nothing quite like a porch swing! Although space was tight on the porch of the Stacey Living house, she found a swing set that was big enough.
The idea of using classic cars to support green is even more appealing! Also note the cute bird pillows and vintage rugs which add to the charm.
Maybe your porch is too small for a traditional swing, how about a rocking chair?
You can see how deep the porches are at Jessica Welling Interiors. Although there wasn’t room for a traditional swing, she got creative and added a couple of hanging rockers.

The stone gabled benches and other porch decorations are very pretty, but what caught my eye was the colorful basket of faux flowers that hung by the front door.
There’s a beautiful wreath at the front door of This Is Our Bliss, but what really caught my eye were the plants and lanterns lining a path that leads the eye toward the door.
And it’s true: a hall with a very simple decoration can be as charming as a very elaborate one.

Some ornamental plants, colorful vases, and doormats can decorate the area.
Keep in mind that placing clipped plants on the outside of the posts, rather than the sides of the door, can visually widen the doorway.
As if all these pretty things weren’t enough to convince me of the importance and allure of a stylishly decorated porch, here’s what my trusted real estate agent had to say:
“I encourage sellers to make the best first impression possible. After all, you only get one chance to make a good first impression. Front Porch Christmas Decorations That’ll Impress
Good Friday! Hope you had a great week! This week’s Friday favorites are a little different because I’m participating in a porch decorating blog event with some other fun bloggers. Spring weather is here and I can’t wait to spend a few days outside. So happy to have our porch ready for the season so we can use the space all spring and summer. Our very small front entry was a style challenge, but with a few minor updates we have been able to create a space we love. After reading my ideas for decorating a small front porch, be sure to check out other bloggers’ porches!
Even on a small front porch, you can add a small chat area. It may only be a small chair or stool, but it is a very comfortable place to be!
This year, we found a little porch chair. Last year we were able to install the swing set. You can see our playground from last summer here. While I love the rocking chairs on the front porch, it’s a bit big for the small space. It is a very functional decoration, but it does not look very good. In fact, we use chairs all the time, mainly me, but sometimes I see children sitting there and reading.
In fact, I was going to put the rocking chair back on the porch, but started to reconsider when I realized it needed a fresh coat of paint. Then my six year old and I discovered so many fun options for outdoor chairs in the outdoor patio section of Target! I took this little porch chair home and asked the kids which one was their favorite.

Yellow Planter (similar) // Small Patio Chair (currently out of stock. Fun Option) // Black and White Striped Headboard // Metal Outdoor Table (similar)
The fabric of the chair is very beautiful! It works well wet and dry. This is a very comfortable chair, especially with the pillows!
When you’re on a small decorating budget, you want to make sure you’re looking everywhere for home decor, including places you never thought of. The rocking chair I mentioned was found at a garage sale! I have been known to pick up small pieces of furniture from the side of the road. (She’s not ashamed to admit it!)
I got my hands on a great spring porch item this year in an unexpected place. You won’t believe where I got this white table from!
