Since we weren’t ready to completely redo this bathroom, we decided to renovate it in two parts. The first step is to update the dressing table, the lighting and the paint. The second step is to update the bathroom and possibly replace the floor.

I’m a big believer in making any space feel like home, no matter how temporary or low budget. You should feel good when you walk into your home, and it doesn’t take much! Small changes can make a big difference in the feel and look of a space.
When we decided to quickly transform our small bathroom, we wanted to keep it simple. We don’t know how temporary this update will be, so I didn’t want to spend too much in case we decide to redo it all too soon.
There are so many easy ways to update a space on a budget to make it look like home!
Bathroom Remodel On A Budget
The power of paint is magic! In fact, if you want to update any space on a budget – paint!
The first paint in the bathroom was brown, which made the room seem small, boring, and dirty. I wanted to clean it with a light color to make the bathroom look more clean and tidy.
We decided to use the same paint color as the master bedroom to blend the spaces. I love this color! The perfect warm white with a hint of pink – Behr Bleached Linen.
For the storage closet, I knew I wanted an accent color. I was debating between sage green, orange/red or black. I ended up choosing Behr Muted Sage and I love how it turned out! This is the perfect soft green color and would go well with a bath rug! I think the dark color of the cabinet doors makes the room look bigger too!

We could have painted the existing skirting boards, but they were too old and short, so we changed them! I highly recommend updating your baseboards and door frames when updating an old room. A high / wide and more modern disease that makes a big impact and cleans the appearance of the walls. We used the same paint color as the entire house, Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige.

To be honest, I was really worried about painting our floor! But I’m so glad we did because it looks so good! In fact, if you have an old shower in your home that you want to replace, try painting it first!
Yes, it’s not the most permanent option, but it’s as easy as working while you wait for the right time to change.

It’s also very cheap. We only painted a quarter of the bathroom floor, including a top coat and a top coat, for only $40.
We had our carpets painted about 3 months ago and they look great! There were a few scratches after we finished our work in the bathroom, but it was easy to install and paint. I’m not sure I recommend painting the floors in high places, but it worked great for the bathroom.
For the bottom coat, we use black, and for the top coat, we choose a matte sheen, which I like. Just a warning – the black floor shows everything. But I love how it looks! And this bathroom stays clean because I only use it.
The paint was very easy to apply, it just took a long time to wait for it to dry. Be sure to try not to walk up too fast! It’s worth the wait!

The cabinet is a big part of the bathroom! If you can update your existing dresser with paint, this is an easy way to save money! Painting an existing dresser can completely change its look.
Other ways to update an existing vanity are to add new door hardware or pull out and replace the faucet. Faucets Bay is very easy to install yourself.
This black leather tube is from Amazon and is super cheap! I always buy faucets from other manufacturers on Amazon and I have never been disappointed! It looks like the $300 version, but it’s six times cheaper!
You can also replace the top of the vanity if you have a good foundation. Most warehouses have a “remainder” section where you can buy garden parts at discounted prices.

In our case, the current competition is not in the best condition. Even trying to paint the base and replace the counter and sink would be a waste of money.
In most cases, it is cheaper to buy a vanity set that includes the base, handles, and sink. Buying everything individually can add up.
So we decided to buy a new vanity for this bathroom! I had a hard time deciding what to buy and how much to spend. There were several options that looked good and were very expensive (around $200-$300), but they weren’t great. In addition, the finishing is very simple (usually a white vanity with two doors and a white top).
As I looked, I came across a few options that I liked. So I decided to spend a little more on something frivolous than I needed. I love the oak finish on the stand we got! It also looks good against the black floor.

I also decided to spend more on a vanity because a good vanity is an investment that is easy to save if you decide to redo your bathroom. You can remove it from the bathroom and then install it again if you want to change the layout or redo the floor.
Also, if you buy a good wooden cabinet, it will last a long time and you can repaint it in the future if you want to give it a new look.
Changing a bathroom mirror is a very easy and quick way to update any bathroom! Especially if you currently have a practice mirror (you know, the oval one with a beveled edge – they’re everywhere!).
This is another one that I decided to spend a little on because you can easily move it around the house and it lasts a long time.

I love this Anthropologie mirror! I had so many favorites that it was hard to choose. I love that they are all beautiful and unique. Almost got this mirror and a shelf. I think the little shelf is so cute! I might save this for the next bath!
Another easy change is the new makeup table! The vacuum cleaner in our bathroom was very old! Probably the original light from the 1970s.
This last one I may have spent more money than I wanted to, but I love these light bulbs! One of the options I thought about when we remodeled the bathroom last year. I knew they would be perfect in our bathroom.
Adding finishes to a bathroom can be a lot of fun! I like to keep bathrooms simple and clean, but still add some decor.
Minimalist Small Bathroom Design Ideas On A Budget
Those gold shelves above the bathroom are so cute and functional! I have plants on because of the amount of natural light in this bathroom and some of the faces and hair that I use every day.
I almost bought expensive shelves from Anthropologie but these are cheaper and work better. I don’t think it is necessary to spend money on them, as I did with the lamp and the mirror.
I also updated them to work well in this bathroom as well. The original wood on the counter was too warm compared to the vanity, so I used this white stain to lighten the wood.
I kept a simple style for the shelves.
