Planning A Destination Wedding On A Budget – A destination wedding can be anything you imagine – fun, unique and dreamy. After all, going to the best place is the best way to get married. However, couples should consider real life when planning a wedding elsewhere. So to avoid disappointment, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about your expectations versus the reality of your special day. So here are five things to keep in mind when planning a destination wedding.
Type A brides – I see you! You have everything planned to a T and you have to manage a little bit of everything. However, getting married somewhere outside of your hometown means you’re relying on your wedding benefits. But they are called professionals for a reason! They know the area and can advise you on what works and what doesn’t. It may be against your culture, but make the most of it! Enjoy someone doing a great job and feel like a guest at your wedding.

Another important factor to consider is the ambiance of your wedding venue. Getting married in a tropical climate like the Caribbean requires a go-and-go mentality. There are many truths to living on island time, even when planning your wedding day. And that’s good! It’s all part of the experience and you and your guests can be happy, relaxed and stress-free just by enjoying your time.
Destination Weddings: How Much Do They Cost?
Having too many yes answers is probably one of the most frustrating things couples face. And yes, that’s understandable. Besides buying wedding gifts, your big day may come with additional costs for flights, hotel rooms, and other travel expenses. Of course, some guests plan their vacation around your event. However, some people may not have enough free time to get the most out of their money.
In short, some people go to the wedding party, so prepare about half of your guest list to make your big day. The good news is that many people are familiar with Zoom, so adding live streaming to your destination wedding is a great way to include loved ones from afar.
Inns tempt you with free packages or special amenities and upgrades. However, don’t let this fool you into thinking that destination weddings are cheap. If you’re working with a luxury or all-inclusive resort — think The Finest Playa Mujeres, Hotel Xcaret or Grand Velas — your expenses may be more than you plan. Even the best places without a plan, like St. Regis and Andaz, they can save money. Also, you may have to spend more in some areas (say travel or food) and less in others in your budget read what you think of the wedding.
Let’s face it. The pandemic has changed everything, including the way people travel. Depending on where you are, travel to other countries may be prohibited as many places have restrictions. For example, visitors may be required to obtain vaccinations or show proof that they are free of the Covid virus upon entry and re-entry to their destination. You can be set in a specific location, but you can still have fun there if you don’t want to visit the international protocol. None of this should scare you. Plus, these times of change are the perfect excuse for couples to pack up and get married elsewhere.

A real wedding begins with settling in your guests and ends with the final send off. Destination weddings are unusual. Yes, you will have a precession and you can plan a great escape, but your experience doesn’t have to or shouldn’t begin and end there. Your guests can arrive the night before and leave the next day, or they can plan their annual vacation around your big day.
You don’t have to plan a week for fun, but you do have to think beyond the actual date. This is the chance of a lifetime to have all your loved ones in one place at the same time, so go for it! Plan a weekend full of activities, including dinner and brunch after the wedding. You can bring entertainment, rent a catamaran or just gather on the beach. Think about the general mood and take care of your guests.
Of course, I’m here to answer your questions – that’s part of the inspiration for this post. Many brides have asked me about this. Your wedding day should be the best day of your life and being informed is the best way to make sure that happens
