So, in the first few weeks, we had to buy the basics like a stove, fridge, washer and dryer, and then we slowly started renovating our house over the years.

When I started this blog in 2015, we were so established that decorating and creating independently was at the forefront of my mind.

(Check out my first home trip on the blog – sorry for the low light and ‘yellow’ in my photos 🙁 I was still ‘green’ in the world of photography.)

Sometime last year, when I finished renovating our craft room (if you missed it, take the Facebook Live tour here), I noticed that the whole house was starting to look smaller, it was outdated. is, and worse, it’s broken. Lack of wool. The children will remain nameless

So after ten years in our house, I decided it was time to start renovating my place. This means that when you choose key areas:

But on a low budget, my goal is to fix up our home to suit our current needs and home preferences.

Our bedroom hasn’t been updated since we moved in 10 years ago. Problem – All the furniture, bedding, and decorations were untouched since I started visiting the blog.

This is what it looked like about 10 years ago. Nice – sure – but a little old.

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Resisting Wall, a Canadian company that creates innovative and affordable graphics.

I decided to stick with the same color scheme of blue, white and yellow, adding a few more blacks to add more elegance.

So with a few changes and additions, our bedroom got a nice refresh that feels modern and contemporary.

These works of art are the piece de resistance of this place! In keeping with our Scandi-meets-farmhouse-with-a-pinch-of-the-century-modern style, this whimsical and unusual design was just what this tranquil space needed.

What’s new below?: An analog watch and a full leather case. Lamps, spice racks, and string birds were things I already had.

Also in the area were pillows, a duvet cover, and gray cotton sheets — all inexpensive additions from Amazon and HomeSense.

So after two solid weekends of DIYing my wall decor and fixing up a few key bedroom pieces and accessories, I managed to redo my space while keeping the color intact.

With just a few tweaks and changes, our bedroom had a new look that gave it a fresh and modern look.

None of our properties have changed – nothing! You can refresh a space and give it new life without spending money on furniture.

You don’t need to change all your sheets and blankets. Simply adding a duvet cover creates a new look.

My little secret in this room? I kept the comforter and bought a new duvet cover 🙂

As I said, some of the decor in this room came from ‘buying’ my house. I’ve collected a lot of things over the years, so I just brought things from other parts of my house and added some new pieces.

Roll out the red carpet (or actually a rug) with these bedroom decorating ideas. No need for a complete makeover – a little touch like a potted plant, a new pillow, or a nice throw can freshen up your guest room before company arrives. Budget the space by painting the walls, ceiling, or floor (really!) or hanging wallpaper that can be quickly removed. These makeover ideas will speed up the process — and maybe inspire you to redecorate your room.

Before the doorbell rings, remove everything from the guest room and lay out towels, extra blankets, and pillows. Remove any perishable items from the bedside table and replace them with new magazines, including water bottles and drinking glasses. Get bonuses by leaving a list of important information like your Wi-Fi network and password. A quick check for burned out lights or a TV connector for dead batteries won’t hurt either. Conclusion: Fresh flowers, store-bought or cut in the backyard. With sites like this, expect lots of RSVPs. Your guests will want to visit again and again – give them five stars if they can.

Dealing with limited space? Place a small shelf next to the bed instead of a desk. This is all the space you need for light reading, a book, and a small bowl of leaves.

Breathe in a lightly used room with fresh greenery. Potted plants, such as fiddle-leaf figs, can be moved into the guest room on the weekend as part of a five-minute makeover.

A new pillow (like a shibori lumbar cushion) adds pizzazz to a room as neutral as Mel Bean without sacrificing new furniture or making any changes.

Here’s a quick way to add extra flair to any room: Use a sturdy pair of hangers, a hanging rod, or (as seen here) a bamboo plank to hang a beautiful rug like a plank. Then combine rustic wood items such as benches and bedside tables.

A splash of paint or a large pattern can make a great statement on a wall. Use a ruler, level, and painter’s tape to mark the same area as the board, then put your creativity to work.

What better way to carry all your essentials than with a stroller? Shelves on wheels can hold extra blankets, water glasses, counters and fresh flowers.

A covered bench under the bed serves as a place to store bags (that isn’t the bed or the floor). Some ottomans offer extra storage space.

Use your paint roller on the floor to make changes. In this lofty room, the white walls were painted emerald green.

A restored barn door adds to the elegant look of this home. Use reclaimed wood panels as a start, then add bed shades if you want a truly timeless piece.

Make a big difference with a few cans of paint and painter’s tape. Paint the bottom of the wall dark and light to make the top look taller. Pro tip: Use two shades on one switch card to avoid frustration.

Sure, you’ve heard of hygge, but have you tried lagom? The Swedish principle of simplicity means decorating comfortably with warm colors, neutral pinks and crochet pillows.

A room feels more natural when covered from top to bottom with the same warm shade of gray. With such a dark color, skip light and bright shades.
