Farmhouse Master Bathroom Decor

Farmhouse Master Bathroom Decor – Here’s today’s post that I’ve been wanting to share for a long time. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever blogged about this space before! You’ve seen our guest bathroom, but you’ve never seen the master bathroom! This is a room that was not there when we first bought our house. It was added in 2008. All our friends bought new and bigger houses at that time. Some of them even built their forever home. We are just not ready for this move. So, in order to save money and maintain our little farmhouse for many years, we decided that the best thing to do was to add a 2nd bathroom to our current home.

My father is mainly our contractor. He does a lot of work with some family and friends. We added a corner bed in the back. In addition to the additional bathroom, we built another large closet.

In hindsight, we should have made the bathroom a little smaller and the closet a little bigger, but overall we are very happy with how the addition turned out! It definitely adds great value to our home and allows us to stay here longer than planned.

You see, this is a very large space! I added a shower curtain, some wall decor, and a small shelf next to the toilet and called this place THE space. However, I am not happy with it. Every time I go to the room, I feel that it is not finished. After a while at the end of last summer / maybe the beginning of fall, I was completely out of the bathroom. I’m tired of the wall color and I want to brighten up the room. I knew I had to find a shower curtain or some type of wall decor as a starting point, but no luck.

Then, on a random trip to TJ Maxx, when I wasn’t even looking for bathroom decor, the shower curtain hanging from the end cap quickly caught my eye! Then the storage cabinet, then some wall decorations. Have you ever made a shopping trip like this? They don’t happen often, but when they do, it’s seriously magical! Usually I have to make 95 trips to 95 different stores before I find all the parts I need to fix the place!

Notice that Instagram post 41 weeks ago? I am seriously the slowest decorator in history! I can say that I’m not done with this space yet, but I’m close, and if I wait until everything is absolutely perfect, it could be another 41 weeks before I post this. So without further ado, here’s our “new” look.

So lighter and clearer than before shooting, right?! It’s truly amazing what a little paint and white linen can do!

Farmhouse Bathroom Design Inspiration

As I said before, the shower curtain is the inspiration of this bathroom decoration. I knew I wanted a lighter shower curtain and I also knew I wanted to use a lighter gray color. The problem is on the floor. Trying to find a shower curtain that will allow me to go in the direction I want to go with the color of the wall but also tie in with the color of the floor is not easy. At first I even considered new tiles, but I don’t want to deal with the expense or mess, I’m looking for something that will be used. Then again, when I wasn’t looking, I found the curtains you see above at TJ Maxx. This is enough to cover the floor in various shades of gray, blue and blue. This is exactly what I was looking for!

After throwing the shower curtain in my cart, I came across the little blue storage box you see next to the toilet, also at TJ Maxx. The wall between the vanity and the toilet is always a difficult space to decorate. Need to know what you need, but can never find the right size, color, etc. This cabinet is the perfect solution!

Then, after having great luck at TJ Maxx, I went to the hobby lobby hoping my luck would continue. That’s when I discovered this print and also started the trend of wood throughout the room.

I decorated the leather shelves with mostly linens, some old stuff I already had around the house, and some newer stuff, like this canvas print I got from Big Lots.

Bathroom vanities and mirrors have always been one of my favorite things about this space. Ideally, when changing things in the bathroom, a traditional style vanity is the easiest way to decorate the surroundings. Since our taste is very specific, I don’t know how it will work in the room, but I like it. It worked well. I also love all dark hardware. One of these days I want to replace those light fixtures with some farmhouse style fixtures, but again, all in good time.

Our makeup is very limited. Ideally, I would like to add a little more. Perhaps a beautiful plate between two sinks with white clothes and decorative glasses. I do not know. I’ll find something. For now, just a simple ceramic vase and some airy white flower sprigs that I got from Pier 1 will do.

As I said before, if I wait the space is perfectly staged and every little detail is exactly how I want it. This post probably won’t happen for a few more months. Did I mention how slow I am?!

This weathered wood and mirrored glove box is something I got from Kirkland. I love how it relates to the other parts of the room. I also love the simplicity of the white towel hanging over it. Is there really anything better than dry white linen?

Don’t give up on planting! Although my brain was racing with ideas and dreams to remodel the master bathroom, for over a year we lived with a half-finished shower, vanity, and pink, partially exposed tile.

Put each plate. But luckily, my husband took that burden and actually did it. Every design I could see in my head and on our vision board, he put in hours and effort (with the help of a friend here and there) and made it happen.

Since this bathroom is medium in size, it doesn’t need to have a big impact on the budget. In fact, the bold, sharp pattern makes this master bathroom pop, and we were able to find Lowe’s pieces that kept us on budget (mainly thanks to some sales!).
