What I love about this mirror is that you don’t need anything fancy to do it! It’s a great program for beginners, but very useful! So get ready to build your own or skip the building block and find something to renovate.
Farmhouse Bathroom Remodel Ideas On A Budget
1. Cut four pieces of wood 1 inch by 4 inches: two pieces will be cut to the length of the vase, two to the height. Miter the corners using a miter box or miter saw (for more precise angles). Your measurements are on the outside corners.
3. Wipe the stain with a lint-free cloth. Leave on for about 5 minutes and wipe off the excess with a clean, lint-free cloth. We let it dry well. (Note: Since I was freezing and working in a small space, I colored mine before putting it together, but you can totally do it after putting it together.) Make sure you stain both sides of the wood as it will reflect the unfinished side in the mirror…trust me; )!
4. After the stain dries, apply a gray wash. For this I mix about 1 part paint, one part water (maybe a little more water) until it reaches a fairly watery consistency. Then apply the gray paint/water mixture to the stain with a brush and wipe immediately with a cloth. This gives a grayish appearance. It will look dull, and that’s okay because a shine will be added during sealing. Let it dry.
5. After the gray wash was completely dry, I went ahead and coated it with Helmsman Spray Varnish for protection. This spray is for garden furniture and to protect wood from moisture, allowing it to expand and contract when the temperature changes. But if you don’t like to paint your tree like me, you can use plain old polyester if you prefer.

4. Add wood glue to the mitered corners and line them up carefully to create your frame. Use a staple gun to staple the back of the corners of the frame.
5. If you can find black corner brackets, use them. But if you can only find a metallic look, spray them with a spray can. I used Rustoleum’s Black Hammered spray paint and let the brackets dry thoroughly before attaching them to the corners of my frame.
6. Now the fun part! hung As a makeup changer often, I chose to use 3M command strips on the lenses as per the package instructions. I used 4 on each board, FYI. You can screw the frame directly to the wall or glue it directly to the glass if you prefer. The choice is yours and it also depends on your bathroom.
Tip: If your bathroom mirror has large plastic brackets, replace them with small rings. That will help align the frame better with the mirror and the wall.
