Yes, modern functionality still has its place in the farmhouse bathroom. However, you want to focus on the aesthetics that create style in the home. And few do it like repurposed decor or weathered pieces that have been given a new lease of life. Instead of a regular under-the-sink toilet, consider installing a pedestal sink and an old, refurbished cabinet next to it for a more farmhouse feel. Placing it in the corner saves a lot of space in a small bathroom, and painted bathroom accessories and vintage wood paneling in the background complete this look.

A freestanding bathtub is the heart of any fantastic country style bathroom and finds a place in even the smallest as it can easily be placed almost anywhere. In today’s post, we’ll take a look at what went into creating our farmhouse bathroom and how things are doing almost three years later. I’ll also be sharing more of my favorite modern farmhouse bathrooms for more inspiration.

Let’s start with the color palette. I wanted a very classic farmhouse feel, so we went for white walls, black and white tiles, warm wooden ceilings and wooden accents.

Our wall color is Benjamin Moore White Dove, which is the perfect paint color for a farmhouse bathroom because it’s more of a soft white. Other soft white paint colors I would recommend for a farmhouse bathroom include:

There are tons of DIY tutorials for fake shipping, but we went for real aesthetics and practicality.

We went with a made joint boat that can be found at most big box stores. These tables are made of solid wood and do not warp over time.

We’ve had a lot of questions about installing shiplap in the bathroom, as many people worry about the product keeping all the moisture out of the bathroom.

We chose a classic white vanity with a warm white quartz countertop. The sink came with chrome handles and to match the overall theme of the space, we changed them to matte black handles.

White subway tiles are classically stacked on both walls of the shower. We chose a traditional rectangular subway and combined it with black grout, which is quite similar to the farmhouse style.

Admittedly, the black grout was difficult to deal with, so you can read more about our white tile with black grout here.

Adding wooden elements, such as round wooden mirrors, a wooden chair and towels, adds warmth and a farmhouse feel to the bathroom. We also added black vanity lights and a star pendant over the bathroom, which also helped create the overall farmhouse feel.

This mirror gives me a nautical vibe, but otherwise it’s a typical farmhouse bathroom. You can only see a little of the floor, but the real brick floor with the herringbone pattern is beautiful and gives it a rustic look.

This floating natural wood sink sets the tone for the entire room and gives off a rustic farmhouse vibe. The square sink also reminds me of farmhouse kitchen sinks!

I call this bathroom a farmhouse and a city. A shiplap, round wooden mirror and soapstone give off a farmhouse vibe, but then meet polished textured wallpaper, classic moldings and a sophisticated light fixture.

Farmhouse can easily be combined with other styles, and here is a great example of combining the two looks.

This modern tile is tempered with rustic yet modern furniture. The pendant lights look more contemporary, but they definitely have that barn feel, and if you look closely, you can see the black doors that are classic farmhouse.

This bathroom is quite modern, but follows the classic farmhouse color scheme with white, black and wood tones.

The natural wooden farmhouse with matte black handles and classic large hexagonal tiles creates a farmhouse atmosphere. Contemporary sinks and classic scones offer a classic look.

Black and white tiles mirror the tiles in the shower, while the upper part includes a round mirror and a butcher’s counter. Seen here is half of a baptistery wall, which can be a fun way to inject some color into your walls.

Here is a beautiful farmhouse with charm. Boats and rustic ceilings scream farmhouse, while classic light fixtures, marble tiles and timeless white furniture lean more towards the traditional.
