As the supplies started to arrive I decided it was time to finalize the layout and plan the build. Surely someone can recommend a tile. I just have to make it happen.
With this attitude adjustment, it’s time to finalize the plan. So let’s look at the concept of the room and then how I hope to execute the plan.
As with most of my renovations, I know I want the room to be mostly white. It’s a small, dark room with no natural light, and if any room should be white, it’s this one.

However, as the bathroom with bath in the beige bedroom we keep for my older son to visit, I want the room to be a little less feminine than my usual style and also have some natural elements to match the beige in the bedroom. . .
Therefore, my central design concept revolves around a mix of three elements: crisp white, natural wood and antique brass.
The look I want is clean and simple, classic and luxurious and modern, but with a touch of patina for character.
Since the room is mainly tiles and tiles, plus a few accessories, the connection between the valve and the tiles is the most important. I would love to combine the warm-toned wood with the cool-toned marble, albeit in a light color, and this pairing is the essence of the design.

In this case, nothing felt as light and airy as my ideal vanity, and I’m so glad I stuck with it.
The second key design element is the tile that will be used on the floor and walls around the tub.
As I said above, this hasn’t been ordered yet, but I’ve been getting what I mean for a while now. Making a design board helped solidify my choices.

I will be looking for a marble mosaic for the bathroom floor and the Carrera fabric is my first choice. It will work well with the Carrera countertop that comes with the vanity, and since it’s a small space and one of the few opportunities to add interest to the space, I’ll definitely be picky about the marble.
This is especially important because there won’t be a marble wall behind the vanity like I saw in the inspiration photos.
With the first two main elements considered in the plan, the third aspect of the design is to incorporate the beautiful patina of the vintage brass fittings.

For the vanity mirror I chose a very simple design with a narrow brass rim and swivel joint. I added the triple chandelier that I put above the mirror and I love that it has vintage but clean modern lines.

To finish off the look, I chose the chicken neck faucet below, which I think will look great with the vanity.
In addition to the marble floor, I also need to choose wallpaper for the shower area. I’m hoping to find a white subway tile with a beveled edge. I want something bright, crisp and simple and I think this would fit the bill perfectly.
I plan to tile up to the ceiling and the existing shower door will definitely be removed. While it would be nice to have a freestanding bathtub, this space is more used as a shower. Another option would be to remove the tub completely and just install a shower, but that’s a more difficult renovation than we’re currently planning.
The existing plain white barrel will have to do. For now, I expect to use a tension rod with a white fabric shower curtain, but other options may be explored down the road.

Other textiles in the room will also be bright white, from plush towels and washcloths to a simple fluffy bath rug.
For accessories, I plan to feature the same three visual elements: white marble, vintage brass, and natural organic ingredients.
For sink accessories like tumblers and soap dispensers, I gravitate toward matte marble pieces above.
And the litter box and small tray can come from the rattan collection in the last picture below.
